FREE WORKSHOP: Model-Based Systems Engineering, Phoenix, AZ

May 17,2016 - Time: 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Model-based approaches to systems engineering and systems development are increasingly seen as the key strategy for dealing with the increased complexity of large scale, complex systems. Models enable faster and more accurate specification, validation, and simulation. The use of models at the systems and systems-of-systems levels is bringing big benefits in development time, quality, consistency, agility and overall program success. In recent years, the IBM Practice Library has integrated various methods from IBM Rational Harmony, IBM Rational Unified Process for Systems Engineering, IBM Model Driven Systems Development and other methods into a unified approach called the IBM Systems Engineering Method. The focus of this workshop is on practical methods that can be used right away, even by those with no previous modeling background. Concepts taught in the workshop will be demonstrated and illustrated through in-class exercises. No previous modeling or computer experience is required. Course outline: • Overview of the IBM Rational Systems Engineering Method • Method and process structure and management • SysML essentials • The Systems Model • Flow-down and levels of abstraction • Model-Based Trade Studies • Verification and Validation of models • Multi-Discipline Modeling
