November 13, 2014 is the date for the Rational® System Architect® Users Group meeting

Our upcoming Rational® System Architect® Users Group meeting will be hosted at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum located at 14390 Air and Space Museum Pkwy, Chantilly, VA 20151 on Thursday, November 13, 2014. For the first time, we are combining our SA Users group meeting with the Rational® Systems and Software Engineering Symposium. This FREE Face-To-Face event will focus on the IBM Rational solution for enterprise architecture, and systems and software engineering -- with sessions around each of the core processes of enterprise architecture (DoDAF 2, FEAF 2, & EA in general), requirements management, solution architecture and design, collaboration, change and configuration management, reporting, and test and quality management.

We are very excited to bring together our current and future Rational users, IBM Business Partners, and industry experts to discuss ideas and issues that are common to all of us in the industry. We encourage all our current and future customers to attend this event. It will be a great time to stay connected and network with other professionals to share your ideas and best practices, and to learn from the experts.

Title: Team Success Story at Army CERDEC
Through partnerships with our US Army customer, System Integrators and other software vendors, a comprehensive DoDAF-compliant Architecture development, governance and analysis environment is now available within the IBM Federal Cloud for use on the .mil domain. Army CERDEC works with Strategic Technology Consulting to employ IBM Rational System Architect to generate DoDAF products and the Enterprise Elements Repository to synthesize, analyze and visualize the underlying information. Through our partnership with CloudOne, we have provisioned this toolset within the IBM Federal Cloud, enabling a broader community to utilize and leverage the information and capabilities and saving deployment and hosting costs in the process.
Presenters: LTC Timothy Klenske, USARMY TASCOM and Marco Temaner - Enterprise Elements, Inc.

Title: Generating Repository Based Enterprise Life Cycle Documentation at the IRS
Abstract: This presentation discusses and demonstrates a macro based document that pulls information from a Rational System Architect repository thus decreasing the time required to develop the a required life cycle document (a Business System Report) and producing a more accurate model based specification. The Enterprise Life Cycle (ELC) is a framework used by IRS projects to ensure consistency and compliance with government and industry best practices. One of the milestone ELC documents is the Business System Report (BSR). The purpose of the BSR is to confirm, clarify and document initial system scope, vision, system architecture concept and release roadmap for the project as a whole, and to define the release plan for the current release. A repository based document provides an option for projects at the IRS to develop a more consistent, accurate, and reusable project deliverable.
Presenter: John Jessup, Senior Consultant, IBM Software and Services-Federal (ISSF)

Title: Enterprise Architecture and the Semantic Web: the Next Generation of EA is Here
At this luncheon we'll discuss the next generation of Enterprise Architecture -- utilizing information from disparate sources and using semantic web technology (SPARQL queries/RDF triple-stores) to produce dashboards that reflect latest EA information about the organization. This includes application portfolio analysis, requirements, operational analysis, within current-state and future-state architectures. We will demonstrate the newest major release of IBM's enterprise architecture tool, System Architect, 11.4.3, which provides these capabilities in conjunction with other best of breed tools.
Presenter: Lou Varveris - WW CoP Lead, EA, Continuous Business Planning & DevOps
